“A pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tomar will be tried in the Santarém court for a crime of sexual abuse of children of successive treatment, since the acts for which he is accused have lasted for six years.
The 57-year-old defendant, a Brazilian national, is suspected of having started abusing a girl in 2009, when she was seven years old, and only stopped in 2015 when the relationship of excessive intimacy with her began to be motive.
According to the indictment of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP), which the CM had access to, the man took advantage not only of being the pastor of the religious community but also of the close friendship he maintained with the victim’s parents .
The alleged abuse took place inside the church, in the garage of his house, when the couple and the daughter visited him at the weekends, at the house of the minor’s grandmother, where the pastor traveled to teach him Bible studies, his car, as he was waiting for her at the school door to give her a lift.
One of the many sordid episodes described in the indictment will have occurred at an Adventist camp in Penela, where the defendant called the victim behind a tent and asked him to drink a glass of white liquid, which would be his own sperm.
The MP says that the pastor did not have intercourse with the minor, but that he felt her in the most intimate areas and that he even showed his penis, asking him to have oral sex.
When the suspicions increased, the family entered the Facebook account of the child and found several conversations in love, where the defendant even says that he intended to marry her when she turned 18.
The pastor was dismissed from the Seventh-day Adventist Church in January 2015, when the congregation ruled that he was not a “morally indicated” person to represent the institution.
The Adventist pastor, when he was heard by an investigating judge at first judicial interrogation, denied the practice of all the facts that are imputed to him by the Public Ministry in the process.”
